S8E1: The stories we tell ourselves (5-8-23)
The most exciting thing that happened this week was Arabella got baptized! When I saw her in white I was so happy I felt like I had evoprated in to light and gushy happy feelings. It was so amazing! There were so many friends and family there and it was ahhhhh :)
LEAVING THE AREA
Sydney gave us a hug before we left "sometimes the members are struggling too and need the missionaries". I feel the same way about her and all of my friends in the Gilbert YSA stake, there were a lot of people I need. I hope Bella and Jaden keep progressing. Bella came to the baptism and I hope things turn out well. She says she wants to get baptize in a year so her mom can get more use to the idea but I know that is really hard to fight against satan for that know with the protection that comes from covenants that bind us to Jesus.
NEW AREA
Holy crap! There is so much work to do!
THE STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES.
I tell the stories to myself, and you do too. There's the story of "I am a horrible person and no one likes me" and the "I am trapped". One that I tell myself of is that "there are no good unplanned things." But there are! Like this mission wasn't planned or getting free stickers to put on my waterbottle wasn't planned. I am sure Joseph didn't plan on restoring the covenants or that someone planned on inventing gum. There a lot of amazing things that just can't be planned.
It has been really helpful to discover that my mind often does storytelling and I am glad that I can caught on sometimes.
Again, I am in a new area with much to do and a lot of people to love and share the light to. I have no idea how to plan to make sure we don't miss anyone. However, there are amazing that God has planned and I just need to be intuned with the spirit :)
With much love,
Sister Martin
