E10S5: Finding People on two Anthills 🐜👩‍🏫 (8-28-23)

Greeting my glorious gospel gang!

Man. This week has been a week. President Hansbrow set a goal for every mission companionship to find new to teach this week. The average of finding is 0.5 a week. We managed to find 1 person this week! 🥳 But it was definitely taking a stand on an anthill (except it mattered).

Phrase of the week:
Taking an stand on an anthill.

Meaning: The stand you are taking will cause havoc; often a stand that is too small to actually matter.
Example: He was taking a stand on an anthill by arguing about poltics during family dinner.

This phrase is really fitting because I have stood on 2 anthills this week.

Anthill number #1

I felt prompted to visit this family, though they just had a newborn baby a week ago 😬. It turns out we in the right place. We talked to one lady about family history for 1 hour and then the husband of the family drove up so we didn't have to knock to wake up a baby. 2 miracles right there.

We were on our way back and we spot Rochelle and her step dad. We start talking to Rochelle. However, I was standing on an anthill and they were all in my shoe. 🐜🐜😵

We went up to the porch so I was away from the ants then talked about the plan of salvation with her. We were going to give her a plan of salvation pamphlet but didn't have one. We asked if we could come by again tomorrow and bring her one and she said yes!!

Anthill #2

I was trying to talking in Spanish to this guy; however, I have not practiced my Spanish 😐 He had no idea what I was saying, I look down and saw I was again on an anthill and getting bitten.

I take my shoe off and start wacking it....trying not to weird out this guy. Man, it hurt so bad. 🥹

I finally showed him something type up in Spanish and he gave us his number. He did not change his demeanor the whole time—I guess having an American girl take her shoe off, hold back tears, and talk about Jesuscristo is normal for Jaun.

He a real homie.

Now Sister Pannell keeps an eye out for ants. She has plucked 2 ants of me so far.

She is also a real homie.

"A good missionary"

I am trying not to fall in that cliche trap of not feeling like I am a good missionary. Man, it's so hard. Satan does not want you to feel good about yourself at...or to have enough miles in your car apparently. The night I was talking about this to Sister Pannell, the elders informed us that we actually have 600 miles and not 650. They kindly told us they could drop off bikes if we need it.

Sister Pannell was all gunhoe about biking in 110 degrees, which is awesome. Couldn't be prouder of my greenie and her faith. After crying some more and doing therapy puzzle time with Sister Guddat. We decided to drive for Sunday and just go from there. 🚲

I LOVE FARMS!

We had Jason pull up the restoration video for her to watch instead of the crime shows. He was surprised and interested but then lost interested in video. Celia was watch intently but didn't understand the words and just saw all the farm. "Wow that's so pretty".

Right when Jesus Christ and Heaven Father came down to talk to Joseph Smith she was talking to Jason and totally missed it!! "I love farms, that was such an awesome video". I was a little dumbfounded watching this go down. 😂

Celia got a priesthood blessing! We also had an awesome lesson with Sophia, and Hayden's parents told him he could take the lessons! Yay! I also went on an awesome exhange with Sister Bennion where all the less active boys were hitting on her 😆

I truly love you all and pray you have an awesome week!

Love,
