S8E2: By this shall all men know (5-15-23)

Dear Family and Friends!

We had Elder Alanzo come and share his thoughts! He shared about love and obedience. He was such an example of love for Christ and Christlike love. It was overpowering.

"A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."

- John 13:34-35

EYES TO SEE

My goal for this week is to work on eye contact and to have "real talk" with God once a day. I want to look people in the eye and be able to express the love God has for them. It's hard when they are a 6'5" and a tiny grumpy haha.

Usually when I talk to someone on the street I leave feeling unsatisfied. Wishing I said something different. How can I radiate Christlike love, man?

ELIJAH

Here is how miracles works:

Elijah and his Uncle are getting taught in Dec 2021. They lose contact.

Fast forward, it's Mother's Day in 2023. You and your companion are having a ROUGH day. You ask dinner who should you all visit. They mentioned Sister Webster.

Sister Webster happens to be the neighbor to Elijah and his uncle.

Elijah is outside *gasp*

We ended up talking to Elijah and he brought up life after death immediately. He doesn't make a lot eye contact at all but talked for an HOUR. He cares about his family and football. He told us that he help his teammates respect their dads. We showed him that Malachi scripture and explained that's what he is doing by helping his teammates love their dad.

SOPHIA

Sophia is just a super smart girl who is connecting the dots. We had 2 lessons with her this week!

Sometimes you are trying to testify of Jesus and someone starts talking about outer darkness, and then a bird lands on Sophia shoulder and starts pecking her glasses. And then Grandma comes in with a crazy bulldog. And then someone makes a joke about garments. Hypothetically.

Then you make eye contact with Sophia. And you both realized that this is ridiculous and "Yeah, I can't really focus." 😂

MOTHER'S DAY 🫥😭

Tears may have been shed. The Relief Society women may have thought we were having an allergic reaction and not actually crying. They may have swarmed us. Haha

However, that was the same day we met Elijah that night. Worst days are totally the best days 🤷‍♀️

I am trying to let there be hard days and not be upset if I am sad. Better= negative becoming a positive. To be better there has to be negatives.
